Herby Bread Machine Pizza Dough
Bread machines are awesome, but you don’t have to just make bread. You can also use it to do all the hard work of making dough.
We’ve always loved picking up a take-and-bake pizza from Papa Murphy’s, but we’ve often talked about making our own at home. For our first few attempts, we bought the dough, pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings at our local grocery store. We loved the results, but I’ve been itching to make my own pizza dough (and pizza sauce, for that matter).
If you don’t have a bread machine, I highly recommend that you get one. My Mom and I both have a Panasonic SD-YD250, and they are bulletproof. We’ve literally had them for about 15 years now and they still work like they are brand new. I don’t think you can get them anymore, but the Panasonic SD-RD250 might be a suitable replacement.
So, I Googled for a good, basic pizza dough recipe for bread machines. Of course, I can’t leave well enough alone, so I wanted to step it up a few notches. A basic pizza dough just won’t be good enough for me.
To make the dough more flavorful, I’ve added some Italian seasoning and garlic powder. My wife is Italian, and she’s always harping on me to use more oregano. So, I’ve also added more oregano than what is contained in the Italian seasoning already. In the future, I’ve thought about possibly trying fresh chopped garlic and maybe even some onions, fresh basil, and/or sliced black olives. But for this recipe, let’s keep it fairly simple.
Herby Bread Machine Pizza Dough
Ingredients

3.5cupsall-purpose flour

1tbspgranulated sugar

1.5tspItalian seasoning

0.5tspdried oregano

0.5tspgarlic powder
-
1tspsea salt
-
2tsprapid rise yeast
-
1.25cupwaterlukewarm (about 110 degrees F)

3tbspolive oil
Directions

Add all ingredients to the bread machine in the order required by the bread machine. Mine requires all dry ingredients first, then wet ingredients on top, plus it has its own yeast dispenser.

Set bread machine to dough mode and start. Mine takes about 45 minutes.

Remove dough from bread machine and roll it out into one large pizza crust or two smaller crusts. I like to make 13-inch pizzas so I can bake them in my toaster oven. Optionally, you can place your dough in a plastic bag and store it in the refrigerator until ready to use, up to a few days.

Recommended bake time is 18 to 25 minutes at 400 degrees F.
